The EU Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is one of a series of 'Producer Responsibility’ Directives that makes EU producers, of new equipment, pay for the recycling and/or safe treatment and disposal of products that they put on the market, and eventually is thrown away.
Any business that manufactures, brands, imports electrical, or electronic products is known as a ‘Producer’ and is affected. Businesses selling electrical items or storing, treating or dismantling WEEE are affected. The legislation applies to household and non-household products.
Notebooks 2 Go Ltd is registered with the Dept of Environment to provide the necessary WEEE service and certification that shows your business has meet it's obligation to satisfy the European laws. This certificate of collection is yours, it records that you have passed on your Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) for responsible disposal.
Notebooks 2 Go Ltd can dispose of your equipment, such as laptops, desktops, monitors, and printers for FREE, in a lot of instances. There may be a charge for some equipment depending on type and age. If a charge is generated, the amount will incur £5 + VAT per unit.
If you have any queries please contact us, and we can provide you with further information and costs involved (if any).

Remember we all have an obligation to recycle.
The disposal of used electronic devices has been a major issue in the European Union for a number years. The EU has thus adopted two pieces of legislation to deal with the problem: the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) and RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directives. WEEE, which began to take effect on August 13, 2005, will require European manufacturers to accept returns of old equipment. The basic goal is to limit volumes of waste going into landfills by setting up collection schemes and encouraging recycling and reuse of materials. RoHS went into force in mid-2006, prohibiting the use of substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium. For more detailed and up-to-date information about WEEE and RoHS, see the European Commission website
Data protection & secure erase process.
We have specialist secure deletion software and equipment, which either meets or exceeds the Dept of Defence standards. You can rest assured any data has been erased to this same standard. Our equipment / software writes a pattern of data across the whole hard drive many times, thus ensuring all data or media is completely erased and unreadable.
Recently there have been many media reports of data being loosed. Please contact us for details to ensure your data has been processed securely.
What does the secure deletion service cost?
Notebooks 2 Go Ltd offers a secure deletion solution for free in some instances. If a cost is involved it will be processed at £5 + VAT per item (i.e. per hard drive).
